Introductory CFD

I conducted a CFD simulation to analyze the aerodynamics of a Formula 1 nose cone traveling at 260 km/h. With no previous SolidWorks experience, I taught myself how to use both SolidWorks and its Flow Simulation package.

The set up and simulation was computed on half of the nose cone (to save time) and the final results were multiplied by 2. The nose-cone assembly contained four sub-wings, so the idea was to calculate the downforce from each wing and add them togther to get a combined result.

Although the results did not align with my original hypothesis, I am still grateful I took the time to learn about this as I gained exposure to the world around CFD setup and analysis.
