Heat Capacity Testing

While working at Rondo Energy, my partner and I ran several calorimetry experiments to calculate the specific heat capacity for various ceramic bricks used in Rondo's heat battery product (see www.rondo.com). Testing involved accounting for heat loss due to radiation and convection, calibrating & troubleshooting N-type thermocouples, and following a strict safety protocol.

A calibration technique we used involved running calorimetry tests with copper. Copper has very well documented data on its heat capacity, so if our results matched the literature around copper's heat capacity, then we could be confident our tester and testing procedure was accurate. A sample of the data we analyzed and tested is displayed below.
